Across the district, anxiety is one of the most prominent mental health concerns that we see in our students. At Ranch View, over 50% of our students stated that stress and/or anxiety are their biggest concerns at RVMS.

In order to address this need, Douglas County School District counselors have teamed with Dr. Scott Cypers to create a video series to help parents understand how to help their children with Anxiety. This series will be ongoing throughout the remainder of the school year and a new video will be released every few weeks. These 20-30 minute video videos are designed to provide parents with an understanding of anxiety and provide some actionable tools to help their children. Dr. Cypers is a nationally recognized expert on child and adolescent anxiety and is the director of stress and anxiety at the University of Colorado’s Johnson Depression Center, so please take advantage of these free resources!

The first video discusses the different parts of the brain and how they work together. Here is the link to that video: Understanding Your Brain and How Anxiety Fits Into the Picture
In addition to this series, Dr. Cypers will host a live Zoom session on November 2 at 6:00pm for any parent that would like to get more information after watching the video. That link can be found here:

If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your student’s counselor!
