Dimensions In Literacy: Course description

Targeted, small group instruction for students who need extra support with their literacy development.  This class is designed to increase students’ literacy self-confidence and enjoyment of reading and writing through high interest materials on a variety of topics, while remediating topics covered in core Language Arts classes. Students are placed in this class based on a body of evidence and it is offered according to literacy need.

About me:

I am a dedicated educator with twenty-seven years of experience supporting students as a certified English Language Arts teacher. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching a wide range of learners, including seven years as a high school English teacher in North Denver, seventeen years at Cresthill Middle School teaching grades 7 and 8, and most recently, as a 6th grade reading and writing teacher at Eagle Ridge Elementary School. I am trained in both the Orton Gillingham Approach and the UFLI foundations curriculum. 

One of my greatest strengths as an educator is building strong relationships with students and families. I believe trust, encouragement, and collaboration are essential to student success. I am passionate about creating a learning environment where students feel safe to take risks, celebrate growth, and develop confidence in their abilities. I look forward to partnering with families and supporting each student as they continue to grow as readers.

When I'm not teaching, I'm an academic/executive functioning coach four days a week after school. I'm also a mom to two amazing sons who attend Highlands Ranch High School. When I'm not working or hanging out with my sons, or life partner, Brian,  you can find me at the gym, on a hike with my pup, at a fun restaurant, seeing live music, traveling, cooking, baking, reading or just relaxing at home.
